Tomato Problems

Leaffooted bug on tomato

by John Dromgoole

To deal with stink bugs (lygus bugs, leaf-footed bugs), you can use diatomaceous earth or Diatect, which combines pyrethrum and DE.

For nematodes, try Sincocin. You water it in and apply again in six weeks. This won’t kill nematodes, but can manage them and protect tomatoes.

For disease, compost, compost tea, and corn meal are very effective.

Spider mites: If foliage is discolored with light yellow specks, you probably have spider mites. Dislodge them with a blast of water underneath the leaves, at least once a week. A foliar spray with seaweed provides nutrients as well.

Texas A&M has a great website to identify tomatoes problems.
