In their Boerne garden, Kristy and Jon Paul Bergman made a tall hoop house for their vegetable garden. They used cedar (ashe juniper) from their property as anchoring posts. To make the hoops, they used PVC pipe that’s rated for above and below ground. They painted it to blend in and attached to the cedar posts with PVC brackets.
In spring and summer, they cover the thing with netting to keep out insects like the squash vine borer moth.
In winter, they cover with protective blankets. Jon even attached small eye hooks to tie down blankets.
