Natural Insect Repellent
From The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood
Essential oil blend:
- 4 drops thyme
- 8 drops lemongrass
- 4 drops lavender
- 4 drops peppermint
Put drops on tissue and put near your bed to deter night mosquitoes. Or cut up ribbon or paper, and put a drop of essential oil on each piece and hang around an outdoor dining table.
For an oil, dilute 2 drops in teaspoons of oil or add to any lotion you have. Make a water-based splash by adding 5 drops of the blend to 1 T. of witch hazel.
For a larger amount of oil-based body rub, prepare 2 T. vegetable oil mixed with 30 drops of lavender oil and rub on exposed skin. (Base rule is 5 drops per 1 teaspoon)
